Why Every Resident Plan should Include Emergency Contacts

If you’re looking for a good resident care plan, you will need to know how to find a few things: one of these things is a set of emergency contacts. In any assisted living facility, it’s important to have the contact information of emergency contacts in case something should happen. Here’s why.

A good care plan includes emergency contacts for residents to rely on at all times. These numbers and contact information should include a doctor, family members, and anyone else who might need to be contacted in case of an emergency. A care plan should always make room for the accidental fall or illness, and as residents are older and in need of resident care, it’s best to have all relevant health problems and medications taken listed on a care plan’s files, along with a doctor’s name, number, address, and hours of operation.

Family members should also be listed on a care plan. Resident care includes, among other things, staying in touch with family members or friends, and anytime there is an emergency, family and friends should be notified right away. This is important. Family members often know more about a resident than anyone, including assisted living staff and doctors. They should be listed on a resident care plan, along with doctors and others.

Another person who might want to be listed on a resident care plan is a minister or clergy member. In case of illness or distress, many residents will want to seek help from someone in a spiritual capacity. This person should be listed alongside of doctors (with their emergency hours), and they are often easy to locate and able to arrive at the scene within minutes. So don’t forget to list a minister or other clergy or synagogue member on your resident care plan.

As you can see, these things are very important to maintaining a safe and effective resident health environment. Every assisted living facility should keep all of these items on file for each of their residents.
