Skin care issues can arise when a resident is not able to roll over in bed.  The skin breakdown process is something that can be frightening for a resident that has lupus for example.  You want to be able to apply the correct ointments, cremes and treatments that are crucial to the healthcare of a resident.

You want to be particularly careful when dealing with a resident that may have lupus for example.  Any kind of skin breakdown can extremely dangerous for a resident that has a serious immune system issue.  It is vital for a resident to have an alarm system made available to them right away in case they want to report a skin related issue.  You certainly do not want to see one of your residents end up with a staph infection in an assisted care facility.  Your commercial liability insurance company will certainly work hard in order to make sure that any alarm system is fully covered by your insurance plan.

The overall safety and health of the residents is absolutely paramount.  Anyone running an assisted care facility is going to make sure that the medical team is able to work with all kinds of bandages, wraps and devices in order to prevent long term infection problems.  A skin breakdown can be particularly dangerous and you want to make sure that you are aware of the potential damage that a virus like MRSA can inflict on a wide number of people.  Your insurance company has to be ready to help out and make sure that specialist can be there to work at your facility in order to make sure residents are kept safe and any potential outbreaks are dealt with properly.

MRSA can be deadly for the elderly or anyone with a weak immune system.  You need to make sure that you have a full team that knows how to administer antibiotics as a part of their daily tasks.  You have to be able to make sure that the infection goes away and that residents don’t begin to run a high fever.   The high fever can lead to a trip to the emergency room.  Your entire team does not want to be known as an assisted care facility that sends a lot of their residents to the emergency room.  You have to be able to find a way to make sure that perspective residents get great overall care.
